Reflection as a Navigator & a Maker

“What have I learned?” I ask myself “Where did I stumble? And where did I soar?”

As a principal product designer, I embrace the practice of reflection and inventory. It’s a deliberate process that I engage in frequently. Why? Because it serves two critical purposes: evolution and self-awareness.

  1. Evolution: My goal is to become a master of my profession. To achieve this, I continuously assess my skills, knowledge, and experiences. I seek growth opportunities, whether through learning new techniques, exploring emerging trends, or collaborating with cross-functional teams. By reflecting on my journey, I chart a course toward mastery.

  2. Self-Awareness: Recognizing where I shine and where I can improve is essential. This self-awareness allows me to separate objective from subjective feedback. I appreciate both, but I don’t let them blur my focus. Instead, I channel my energy where it matters most.

    • When I shine, I amplify my impact. I hone my strengths, contribute innovative ideas, and lead with confidence.

    • When improvement is needed, I don’t hesitate. I seek out collaborators—experts in areas I can learn from. Their insights become my stepping stones to growth.

In essence, I’m not just a designer; I’m a navigator, I’m a maker. I steer toward excellence, leveraging my strengths and pulling in collaborators who complement my skills. Together, we create products that resonate, delight users, and drive meaningful change.
